The "Oz Clarke" of Corfe Mullen(Paul's nextdoor neighbour)gives his opinions of wines for you to try.

Viv Parkes has spent a big part of his life "chasing the grape". He has gained a good knowledge of most wines and as on mastermind takes great interest in his "chosen subject".  Go for it Viv !!!!

hi grape squashers!!!

This time we have three different wines for you. Gone from the page is the Rubis but certainly not out of my wine cellar---still a favourite with me and many of my friends.   Just before Xmas we had a little wine tasting at La Maison de la Parkes (viv's next door) and we savoured nine different wines of which all were lovely, well the first six were anyway but after that I presume the rest were---I didn't feel any pain so they must have been. Here are three of the best:

Amarone Della Valpolicella --Tenuta Pule 2005. A real cracking full bodied red which will settle with any red meat dish---nip to Asda, say hello to George and purchase some of their extra special cured fillet steak. It also goes well with a nice bowl of chilli---trust me i know !!!. This wine  is available at Lidl in their more expensive range---at £14.99 a bottle and  at Lidl thats pretty highly priced. It usually runs at up to £30 in other outlets---go get some, its FABULOUS DARLING.

Marques De Riscal Rueda 2009. This is a lovely crisp white---in Viv's words "think white Rioja"---great with fish dishes and white meat dishes, especially chicken in a white wine sauce with mushrooms. A great wine from Majestics priced at around £6.30 / £7.99 depending on quantity purchased.

Monbazillac 2006. After you have enjoyed the other two with either your steak, chilli con carne, fish or poultry then why not finish with one of the nicest dessert wines available. This cracker is available at the Co-op for the princely sum of £6.49. It will finish the meal off in just the right way and leave you ready for either a nice tawny port with some ripe stilton or a nice Armagnac after the coffee (not instant of course).

I do hope you try some of these wines----I am not on a percentage with any of the suppliers--- Viv and I just enjoy our wine and like to spread some of our experiences with others. An Echo Falls is ok, but if you enjoy your wine then why not try something a little different---cost is a little more, but believe me it's worth it.

enjoy your wine folks
